I will be watching and studying this video today. https://isgenesishistory.vhx.tv/packages/igh-student-educator-conference-2017/videos/sedimentology-of-the-flood-kurt
Evidence that supports The Flood in Noah’s day, therefore, also supports the historical genealogies of Genesis. These were real people whose stories have been preserved by the mercy of the Creator for all people today.
Noah preached for 120 years that it was coming. God warned all that The Flood would destroy the earth, and the only people who would be saved were those who chose to get into the Ark that God told Noah to build. Those who rejected God’s mercy did not get into the Ark. They perished!
The Flood was a worldwide Judgment from God because of the wickedness of humanity. You can read the story in Genesis 6…
“Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”
Genesis 6:5-8
What about today? How many are spurning the mercy that the LORD Jesus has been offering to this world? You can choose to ignore the evidence, and not make your own investigation. But, what will you miss out on? A time is coming when everyone will stand before the Judgment seat of God. Everyone! Then everyone will be out of excuses.
Now is the time of grace, a period of probation that Jesus Christ has granted to this world.
“For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
(2 Corinthians 6:2)
Mercy is still reaching out to human beings, but there is coming a time when earth’s probation will close, and the Lord Jesus will come to redeem His people, as surely as the Flood came and surprised the unprepared.
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”
Matthew 24:36-39
